An 18-year-old Filipina wowed judges of "The Voice" Italy’s fifth edition with her rapping skills.
Kimberly Madriaga from Sicily took the stage like a seasoned veteran rapper during the first episode of the show's blind auditions on Thursday.
It only took 15 seconds for Italian rapper J-Ax to turn his chair for Madriaga, who impressed the judges with her skills and presence.
"As soon as I heard you, I said 'ah finally a breath of fresh air' and I hugged you in my mind. Bringing this song is a revolutionary act. I want to give Italy punches in the face using your talent, it's an act of vehemence," J-Ax said in Italian.
She moved with the confidence and energy of a genuine rap superstar as she performed Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now."
Two other judges turned for her, Francesco Renga and Cristina Scabbia.
“I do not want to emphasize but I think that among these 3, I'm the only one who had an international career in territories that could interest you so I think that working together we could really bring out this international side that I feel in you,” said Lacuna coil vocalist Cristina Scabbia.
Madriaga was thankful that she had 3 judges who turned for her but said she idolizes J-Ax and concluded her act by choosing the Italian rapper.
“Thank you very much I really appreciate the fact that you and I have turned your comments but I'm sorry as I have a crush and my idol is J-Ax,” said Madriaga.
Her performance was also chosen as one of the top 5 performances at the auditions.
One local newspaper wrote: “She is so petite and pretty, that - despite the zebra dress - you just can’t see her rapping like Missy Elliott or Nicki Minaj. Instead, Kimberly Madriaga is a hip hop singer with ribbons."
